Monthly Recap: July 2025

TRANSPARENCYMONTHLY RECAP

7/31/20254 min read

So turns out I never actually updated the individual numbers for the income section on the last blog recap. This is the quality you pay me for.

Anyway, biggest item of note here is that I will no longer be tracking DriveThruRPG as an income stream. I have essentially turned it off, due to the fact that I have set up my own webstore on my Bearded Bard Inkworks site to sell my zines directly to you fine folks. So whenever I actually get a sale there (hint hint) I will start tracking that as its own category.

Otherwise, Fanboy Expo Knoxville was the big hitter this month. I was pleased to break 100 on Amazon after a down month last month there. One day I will do actual real marketing for them, and the world will be my clam. One day.

Income:

Fixed Monthly Expenses:

  • PO Box: $14.17

  • Domains: $2.77

  • Webhosting: $3.99

  • Captivate: $17.00

  • Bookfunnel: $1.67

Total: $39.59

Monthly total made:

  • $1,230.00 ($2,615.57 last month)

  • Decrease of: $1,115.00

Yearly total made:

  • $11,309.44

If you would like to leave a comment on this blog, a version of it has been posted on my Patreon and my Subreddit.

Biggest item of note here is a 50 person jump on my newsletter.  This is a product of me finally taking the time to input some emails I collected over the course of the year at in person events. Otherwise, it was a pretty normal month. I didn't try anything wild, I didn't see any unusual spikes. There was a bit of weirdness with Patreon. I show that I lost two paid members, but near as I can tell they never actually existed? Looking at the historical data within Patreon, it shows I had 22 paid members for a few months in a row. So maybe I just fat fingered it? Who knows.

Here's what I am thinking I will do:

  • I will prep for Dragon Con.

  • I will complete my typo fixes that came along with my Bible.

  • I will, hopefully, finally go wide. Fuck I need more spoons.

  • I need to do a little work on the Bible. Not to add stuff, but to arrange it just how I want it.

  • I need to finish my file organization process.

  • Keep working on Blackwater Requiem. I want to be at 20k total words by Dragon Con.

Here is what I planned to get done this month (copy/pasted from last months recap), with its status:

  • Edit Capital of Nightmares. (Finished my side, sent back to the publisher)

  • Work on zines, publish them as they finish, and then make an order from Mixam for them. (Did really well here, published a couple of zines, and updated the rest. I did not order copies, that will wait until after Dragon Con probably).

  • If the bible completes, and I finish my edits, then I will work on going wide. (Bible did complete (I love it), I have not done the edits, nor gone wide).

I got a lot done! Here is a list:

  • Wrote a recap blog for Fanboy Expo Knoxville.

  • I finished my edits on Capital of Nightmares. Now I wait.

  • I finished the process of getting the fancy covers made for my eventual fancy omnibus editions. They are ready to go, whenever I am ready to do the Kickstarter. This will be after Dragon Con.

  • I did a good bit of work on my websites. This includes a bunch of fixes suggested by my good friend Tyra, as well as standing up my webstore on Bearded Bard Inkworks.

  • I have been working on a project organizing all my files. I am 90% done.

  • I participated in Fanboy Expo Knoxville

  • I did a little bit of editing work on Crimson Horror 1 before stopping.

  • I started working on Blackwater Requiem. I will talk about this in an upcoming blog post.

  • Worked on, and published, the Flint Bone Blood zine.

  • Worked on, and published, The Buried zine.

  • Did work on Barrooms and Battlejackets.

  • Worked on my BBI branding, and started redoing the Instagram account for it.

  • Sent a bunch of emails. I mean, a bunch.

  • I ordered custom 'Read Redneck Meth Wizard Books' yard signs

  • I also ordered new stickers, some promo postcards, some bumper stickers, etc all with my current branding.

  • Got a new order of BBI business cards made. These have a tiny ttrpg printed on the back.

  • I guested on Wise_N_Nerdy, one of my favorite podcasts.

  • Filed my monthly taxes.

Alright, alright, alright! Another month in the books, so let's get to recapping!
