Taking Transparency To The Next Level

The New Plan!

You are probably aware by now that by day I work in IT. If not, well now you know. As part of some new(ish) duties at work I have begun to learn how to use Power BI. If you are unfamiliar, it's a Microsoft Product that is used to make visuals from data, to make it easier to understand what's going on. 

Which is perfect for my Transparency Project. 

Posting each month how much I sold or grew my instagram is great, but wouldn't it be better if you could see all the historical data with a click? That's what I will be working towards over the next two months. 

Step one is cleaning up my data, which I have already begun. Once that is done, I have to plug it all in and start building out the dashboards. But as a proof of concept I built something I have wanted for a long time: a word counter. You can see a screen shot of it below. This will allow me to keep folks much more up to date on just where I stand with my various projects.

But that's just one example. Here is a list of dashboards I am thinking I will be building:

• Monthly Income

• Bearded Bard Inkworks Income

• Book Sales by Year

• Inventory (this won't be public)

• Event Data
