Big Changes: First Update

The Reasoning

So I've decided that I would give some updates as I move forward with The Plan. Partly for accountability. Partly to help me wrap my head around it. Partly so you folks can see what I do to implement. So I am taking the blog post where I posted my plan, and under each big header of the plan, I will be listing the things I have done to help tick that box. 

The Plan

I have to cut down on the noise, the distractions.

• I shut down everything related to my non-profit, from socials to websites. It's not officially closed down, as that is a surprisingly complex process that includes dispersing our funds to another charity. But once I have that done, it's done. 

• I have removed several social media apps from my phone. The most important ones I have kept, but some I have turned off notifications for (like discord). Others I have removed off my main screen to make them fractionally more difficult to access (like reddit).

• I deleted my second facebook account.

• I renamed my facebook group to make it more clear what it's designed for.

  • I also invited a bunch of folks to join it, as I hadn't done that in awhile. 

  • I was able to change the rules as well, so that I was able to turn off post approvals for the most part. So now hopefully folks can take part, and I won't have to worry about spammers linking porn in there.

I need to consolidate.

• I shut down a bunch of instagram accounts. 

• I shut down all the BBI socials I think, except for Instagram. That one may go too, I'm still trying to decide. 

• I killed several websites: talesbypod, mgmsistercities, hilltophowlers. 

• I havent' decided yet if BBI will get the axe or not. If it stays, I will have to overhaul it a good bit, mostly in a 'shift important stuff over to talesbybob' and bare bones it.

I need to focus on buyers, not authors.

• I redid my Linktree to be more streamlined.

• I have reworked a lot of this site to be more reader focused.

• I am cutting down on some of the info I track on my regular reports (nothing major, just things like panel descriptions, or breaking out BBI sales into it's own category).

• I have decided that all my books will be going up on Patreon as I write them. That starts tomorrow I reckon. 

I need to set up my store.

• I moved my store from BBI to this website.

• I killed all my itch.io selling options. You want my zines, you come to me.

• I have taken Omnibus 1, 2, Create your way to freedom, and Southern Saudade and unenrolled them from Kindle Unlimited. Once they roll out (most in July), they will be available to purchase through my website here.

I need to start paid ads.

I have not started this yet.

I have got to get new books on the table. No really.

Working on it. 

I am considering looking for an agent.
