So I wanted to take a moment and lay out exactly what you can expect from me over the next eight months or so (hopefully!). I've been taking some time to of course get Southern Saudade out, which comes out next month on the 16th! That has me super excited, but I am not just cranking that out and resting on my laurels. So here is what you can expect:

  • I am about 5k words from being done writing a book I will be submitting. I hate it, but I always hate my books until I have time to sit on them a bit. It's a horror novel set in the world of Jubal County, meant to the book 1 in a trilogy. I need to have it done in time for Multiverse, which shouldn't be an issue.

  • Once that is done I will begin edits on a collection of steampunk I have. Once I have finished my edits, money allowing it will go to my editor, with the hope being I get it out around January.

  • Once that is done, I will begin edits on a collection of dark fantasy I have. Once I have finished my edits, money allowing it will go to my editor, with the hope being I get it out around...May?

  • In the background of the above two I will be putting the finishing touches on my 'how to' book for creatives. It's not the priority though, so it will come around May as well I think.

  • Also in the background I am going to finish some rpg book. I don't know which one honestly. It's probably going to be a small zine of some sort, likely using the Mork Borg or Troika ruleset. Maybe both. The big hold up here, is I don't know how to go about publishing a small zine. I think this may end up being my first real foray into selling through my site, using a local printer to get copies made. Not sure, we shall see.

  • I am going to be talking with experts at Multiverse next month about getting audiobooks made for the Jubal County books. Assuming those go well, the goal is to have audiobooks done in time for Dragon Con.

  • I am also toying with the idea of making recordings with friends for Southern Saudade, as it's standalone. Again, we shall see.

  • Because this all isn't enough, I am starting to lay the groundwork potentially for a small press, and am investigating the comic making process for Jubal County. Essentially, wherever the fans are, I want to be able to meet them with Jubal content. Longer term I want there to be music, film, comics, books from other authors, and all manner of other snippets of Marsh madness. This is way down the list though, but it's never to early to start thinking about it. I plan to be picking folks brains at Multiverse for sure, since there will be tons of big brains there for me to pick.

Fuck, as I spell it all out, it's a lot. But I think I can do it, or at least the lions share of it. But there is a solid reasoning for it: I love the world and works of Jubal County, but I do not want to wind up pigeonholed. I want to be at events with a wide variety of offerings, ready to reach fans that are perhaps not drawn to meth wizards. I want my booth to appeal to fans of comics, rpgs, urban fantasy, steampunk, fantasy, horror, southern gothic, and more. And this will start the process of getting me there. It should also open more doors for me to more niche conventions/spaces, to have more books out there than just Urban Fantasy.

That's the plan at least! Come June, it will be interesting to see what I have accomplished lol!
