Convention Recap: Dragon Con 2024 - Assorted Highlights
TRANSPARENCYEVENT RECAPDRAGON CON

Here are all the various items I want to highlight about my trip to Dragon Con this year!
The LadyWife was my rock throughout the weekend. Seriously, in a billion different ways she was so supportive. I could not have done it without her.
I got to spend a lot of time with Joe Compton and Ben Meeks. They are my two brothers from other mothers, and it always fills my heart to be around them. I got to hang with Richard Fierce too at the booth, but not much outside of that sadly.
I got to go to two panels: a Taskmaster live recreation and a Q&A with Catherine Tate! Both were top picks of my LadyWife and I, and they were fantastically fun!
Ilona Andrews husband Gordon came by the booth and was so, so kind to me. I didn't know who he was by sight, but after we had been talking for awhile he clued me in on who he was, and that he wished we were doing a panel together. He absolutely could have been blowing smoke up my pipe, but I don't think so.
I learned how to go under the street to avoid the parade! Keeping that in my back pocket for future cons.
I got to see an author experience her first Dragon Con, including her first panel there! I missed the actual panel (date with the LadyWife for Taskmaster was a couldn't miss), but it was so rad that it happened.
I got to spend small chunks of time (never enough) with lots of my favs like JD Blackrose, Toby Santerelli, Darin Kennedy, Rachel Brune (and her hubs!), Jessica Nettles, Jim Nettles, John Hartness, Darrell Grizzle, Tony Sarrecchia, Nancy Knight, Berta Platas, Venessa Giunta, Dan Denese, Sarah Madsen, Tamsin Silver, David Coe, Alexander Gideon, Stuart Jaffe, Bobby Nash, Chris Jackson, Mike Maydak, Vikki Perry, Matt Dinniman, Sarah Sover, James Palmer, JE Pittman, Faye Shlanda, Tyra Burton, Clint Hall, Charles McFall, Joseph Ard, Mel Todd, Judy Black, David Sherrer, Milton Davis and probably a million more I am forgetting to mention. I am so sorry if I did, blame the leftover brain fog!
A local author came out and really put in work this weekend, and I got to see it. I'm really rooting for her, and can't wait to see her next steps in the coming years.
I heard Keith Roberson was there, but I don't guess I saw him.
Folks make a point to come tell me terrible jokes, and I love it so much!
I had a lot of repeat buyers, which has been a slowly growing trend.
I got to do some mentoring of some authors. Nothing official mind you, but I talked at length with about a half dozen baby authors over the course of the weekend.
I held my first official business meeting at Dragon. Nothing too serious of course, but it def felt like a big step forward.
I got to see so many Waldo, Shark, Mothman, and Possum cosplays/items/content. These are my favorites, and I was blessed to see scads of each!
I am certain there are a billion other things I am forgetting, it's basically non-stop amazing, but this a good round up I think.
