Event Recap: Multiverse Con 2026

TRANSPARENCYEVENT RECAP

Multiverse, year 5! Let's go!

I am going to break this section into a couple of subsections: me the guest, me  the person, and me the sponsor.

Me the Guest

As always Multiverse does a fantastic job running the event, and making it easy for guests. I didn't have as many panels as in years past, but that just meant I got to hang out more with folks.

Me the Person

Multiverse is my favorite con for just chilling and hanging out. Any time I get to room with my brother from another mother Joe Compton is a great time. I also got to hang with SM Hillman a bit (though never enough!), and a whole host of other rad folks. Too many to even try and name.

Me the Sponsor

I did a better job as sponsor this year (I think). I sponsored the Write Track instead of the Play Track, as fits my increased focus on writing and publishing over my game design (which has been put on the back burner until I get these books out). As such I had a table right outside their door, which made it easy to coordinate. They also organized a little giveaway of a copy of my self help book for creatives (Create Your Way to Freedom) at the end of each panel, so I have away 14 copies of it. Did it help my sales? I don't know. Did it help my exposure? Not super sure. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Do I feel better about how I went about it? Also yes. So many, many thanks to Rosie and Kyoko for having me as sponsor!

I have a few small thoughts.

  • I always love seeing Dino, he's the best. He brought me some rad coprolites and a wicked cool set of dice from Italy!

  • There were multiple soccer teams staying at the hotel, including one from Scotland. That was neat.

I had a few panels! Here they are:

Panels:

  • Taskmaster Live! (I did a full write up on this HERE)

  • Horror of the Ocean (sharks, and mermaids, and horrors, oh my)

  • Indie RPG Design Jam (my forever favorite where we design a ttrpg in an hour using audience suggestions)

  • Chuck Tingle: Potato Revelations (a raunchy late night live play).

  • Give it a Listen: Audiobooks for Authors (talking audiobooks)

Other:

  • Mentor Sessions (As track sponsor I volunteered for three hour long mentor spots over the weekend. I had two folks take me up on it)

So sales were up for me this year, though this still wasn't a wildly profitable event. Actually, once I factor in the cost of the books I gave away I will have lost a little bit. But, like I say every year, I don't do this event to make money, I do it because it's my favorite chill hang out con.

Anywho, here are my numbers:
