Event Recap: Southern Fried Gaming Expo 2026

MomoCon was my last con, and it was great. I sold a tooooon of books. But you know what my best con of the year so far has been moneywise?

Southern Fried Gaming Expo. 

It's very affordable, I got to split my costs with Ben Meeks, and I sold a lot of books. What's not to love?!

This is a tabletop and pinball focused convention, but these folks do dearly love them some books as well. Overall it may be the most chill con I do, and I hope I get to keep doing it for many years to come.

I have a few small thoughts.

• Ben and I did a cool setup for our booth I think. We're gonna be doing things similar in our events to come, for sure. 

• I had my zines out, but I didn't emphasis them at all. So I only sold two, but that's ok. I'm in a rethink phase on them at the moment.

I had two!

• Wise_n_Nerdy Live - another live guest spot on the Wise_n_Nerdy podcast.

• Fandom Faceoff - The con gameshow that Charles McFall runs. Seriously, if you ever get a chance, go to this. Too much fun.

So I sold 59 books and a couple of zines. And with 30 of those being omnibus editions? Yeah, this was a good weekend.

I pretty much sold out of my Omnibus 2's by lunch on Saturday. I didn't expect so many return buyers from last year to come snap up the second in the set. Oops. 

Ben and I also got so use our new banners and signage, and I think they really helped as well. 

Otherwise, there isn't a ton to say here.  Just a good, relatively cheap con with lots of great buyers. What's not to love?
