Monthly Recap: August 2024
TRANSPARENCYMONTHLY RECAP

Alrighty, August is behind us, so it's time for my monthly recap post! This one is a little late due to me being away at Dragon Con, sorry about that! As always, I'm gonna be diving into the numbers behind my sales and socials! Please note: all Dragon Con sales data will be tracked on next months report (and in some DC specific blogs).
Ok, so on the socials front, I have decided to officially add Threads to my social medias. I dropped X/Twitter awhile back, and then signed up for Threads and Bluesky as possible replacements. After seeing how things are shaking out I have opted to focus a little energy on Threads as my third tier social media (after Insta and FB). Largely because of the ease of cross posting, though I will admit I am mildly nervous to have most of my social eggs in the Meta basket. But online me isn't ever really controversial, so I am weighing risk versus laziness, and laziness has won for now. And its not like my Bluesky is going anywhere, and I can occasionally start working on it in the background I suppose.
I am also now going to start tracking Podcast listen data. I am about to start ramping back up on that front, so I want to start keeping a bit more of an eye on it. This will force me to do so. So each month I will record the total number of listens for all shows combined all time (since I switched to my new host, Captivate), and the total number of listens for all shows combined each month.
On the sales front, I killed my Redbubble. Honestly, I was just over it. It was the most difficult to upload a design on, and I sold the least there. This year: 12.23. All time it earned me around 160 bucks, and thats going back to 2020. Juice just wasn't worth the squeeze, and I didn't like it cluttering things up. I am also changing up how I record audiobooks. For now, until I get a better handle on them, I am just listing the total number of sales, not the amount earned. Simply put, they drop that data at a bad time for this report. Want to know how much I made selling audiobooks? Check the year end report.
Weird aside: I don't ever check my business cashapp or venmo unless I need to send someone money. But I have taken sales there, or been paid a room share or the like through them. Today was a day where I logged into both for various reasons, and discovered I had a decent chunk of money in there, which I sent to my business bank account. Which is good, as I anticipate some expensive projects/investments (in my business) coming down the pike, so every little bit helps. Does that teach anyone anything? Probably not. Just some insight into me.
Anyway, it was a good month. I had some trial Patrons convert to paid Patrons on Patreon, which brings me up to 14 now! What?! I also had a great day where I got paid to teach a couple workshops, and sell some books, which carried the bulk of the load this month. But shirt sales were also nice. All in all, good month.
