Monthly Recap: August 2026

TRANSPARENCYMONTHLY RECAP

8/31/20263 min read

Ok! A bit more to chat about here.

Southern Fried Gaming was my most profitable event ever. I sold 1800 bucks, and spent very little to be there. So that will always help the bottom line. I swear, if I could do one of those a month, guaranteed, I'd be getting somewhere haha!

I ran my Facebook ad all month, and it went well. I spent 445.12 on it, and in turn made 1171.02 in Amazon sales/KENP. But I also sold a lot of Audiobooks. Assuming the royalties are around the same as last months (I have to track it  a month in arears) then it should be pretty close to 1500 total. So spending a bit less than one dollar to make three. I'm happy with that I reckon!

I also did a good bit on the critique front this month, which was the bulk of my (Other) Income. Coupled with lower expenses than last month, I ended up with a bit over 3k net for the month.

I'll take it!

If you would like to leave a comment on this blog, a version of it has been posted on my Patreon and my Subreddit.

Business as usual around these parts.

Seriously, nothing of note to report.

Anyway, here are the numbers:

Social Media Growth:
Podcasts:
  • Podcast Downloads (Monthly): 36 (-59)

  • Podcast Downloads (Since April 2022): 7005

Here's what I am thinking I will do:

  • I will finish my editing pass on Jubal County 7.

  • I will tweak my Facebook ad.

  • I will finish CON edits.

  • Dragon Con.

Here is what I planned to get done this month (copy/pasted from last months recap), with its status:

  • I will finish my editing pass on Black Water Reqiuem.  (Yep!)

  • I will start increasing my spend on my Facebook ad.  (Yep!)

  • I will finish writing my scripts.  (Nope!)

I got a lot done:

  • Did Southern Fried Gaming Expo

  • Wrote my SFGE recap blog post

  • Made a cover for a fellow author

  • Worked on some maps

  • Made my Dragon Con promo image

  • Made some Challenge Images

  • Made a new tshirt design

  • Sent Black Water Requiem off to the editor

  • Did another round of edits on Capitol of Nightmares for Falstaff.

  • Did a number of paid critiques.

  • Did Dragon Con prep.

  • Updated my website.

  • Ordered some banner items.

  • Opened the bank account for my LLC.

  • Paid taxes.

Alright, alright, alright!

So there are three things of note for this month. First was that I finally did another in person event after two months off. I was feeling antsy, let me tell ya. As an added bonus it was a fantastic event (Southern Fried Gaming Expo).

The other two things are that I spent the month editing like a madman. Seriously, 566 pages in 52 hours. Why? To keep to my schedule.

See I had set aside August to do my edits on Black Water Requiem, so I could get it sent off to my editor Cleo by the 31st. Everything was going swell, so much so that I was thinking I could get ahead of schedule.

Then the next round of edits came from Falstaff on Capitol of Nightmares. This meant that to keep on schedule, I had to go wide open and spend at least two hours a day editing. But you know what?

I got it done.

Still on schedule, so BWR should be coming in December, and Marsh 7 in January.

Quick summary:

  • Word Count: 0

  • Hours Writing: 52

  • Hours Working: 10

  • Pages Edited: 566
