Monthly Recap: July 2023

TRANSPARENCYMONTHLY RECAP

8/1/20232 min read

Alright! June is in the books! It was a good month, if a bit odd! So lets dive in.

First of all, I officially deactivated my Twitter. I never really liked the platform to begin with, and Musk has just managed to make a bad product worse in my opinion. I was already not active there, just using it to redirect to other platforms, but the whole X thing was the straw that broke the camels back. That was a criminally stupid misstep I think, and frankly I'm glad to be rid of it. /end rant

You'll see that I had a huuuuge bump in email subscriptions. That was the product of the last promo builder I did with a group of fellow authors (you may recall it from a series of daily posts on my facebook a couple months back). It more than doubled my numbers, and I am stoked! It's already started paying off, as my last email, I can directly point to where it generated multiple shirt sales within a couple of hours of it going out. So that's been neat to see. I hope it also pays off tomorrow when I officially do my big launch push for book six in my series.

On the income side of things, I did one small in person event, and it went ok. I didn't cover my costs (I covered my hotel and part of gas, but not all the gas or any of the food), but I made some good contacts so it was totally worth it. I don't actually log expenses like hotel on this chart, because I just cover that out of my personal money, not my business funds. When I reach a point where this is my primary source of income, I will start doing that.

My book sales got a bump from book six technically launching on the last day of the month, even though I haven't begun to really promo it. I messed up on my promo dates, so the official launch got pushed to tomorrow, but organically 72 bucks worth of sales came in on launch day! That's a number that makes me happy, especially thinking back to my first couple of launches.

On the other items front, I don't know what happened on Amazon, but hell yeah, I moved a good chunk of shirts (for me). Teepublic must have not run any sales though, because I only had one sale there the whole month. And whoever bought that really expensive toothbrush using my affiliate link, I really appreciate it! That made up the lions share of affiliate link income I made this month, one of my better months!

All in all, I am very happy with the month, and I am really looking forward to my launch tomorrow!
