Monthly Recap: June 2024

TRANSPARENCYMONTHLY RECAP

7/1/20242 min read

Alrighty, June is behind us, so it's time for my monthly recap post! As always, I'm gonna be diving into the numbers behind my sales and socials!

On the sales front it was a down month, for sure. But, the beauty of stat keeping over the course of years shows me that June is traditionally a down month for me (July as well). So while I could of course hope for better, I can at least say that I am up year on year.

Also, I now have all my fixed expenses properly calculated. I pay them all yearly (to get the best rate), but I am prorating that amount out monthly. So now I record not just the expense to host my podcasts, but also my web hosting fees for both websites, and my subscription to vectorstock. Now I know that each month I have to earn at least 62.06 to cover my expenses.

Alright, with that out of the way, I did one small event, Huntsvillecon (review will be forthcoming). Sales were...sparse. So that didn't do much to pad my sales numbers. The bulk of earnings this month came from three paid critiques I did. I got paid 50 dollars to review the first ten pages of three different authors books. It was fun, and hey, money. Also, excitingly, the first audiobook royalties have come in. It's not a lot, and I doubt next month will be as big, but one day I expect this to make up a good chunk of my income. Fingers crossed.

On the social media front, things are moving right along as per the norm. The biggest item of note is I switched my newsletter host from Mailchimp to Mailerlite. I still have to set up my free short story for signing up automation, but otherwise it's running right along, and I am very happy I made the switch. I also took that as a chance to input a small backlog of in person signups. And hey, there was a big (for me) jump in YouTube subs (6!) which I attribute to my "What Authors Need To Know About AI" video I posted.

Ok, enough chit-chat, let's hit the numbers.
