Monthly Recap: March 2026
TRANSPARENCYMONTHLY RECAP

Hey, a month totally in the black! That's refreshing haha!
My expenses this month were pretty low, just short of 140 bucks, and I sold a decent amount of books and zines in person. So I'm not in the black for the year, but I'm getting closer. Next month, with Jordan Con and Stellar Fest will hopefully get me there.
Otherwise, the only real thing to note is my book sales on Amazon were pretty anemic. I have not really been doing much in the way of online promo of them, so yeah, that tracks.
Next month should also show a huge amount (for me) in the Appearance category as I get paid for all the workshop and workshop related items I did this month. That will be nice.

Ok, I still haven't done my schedie content scheduling strategy. I don't know why at this point. There is clearly some sort of block with this.
In other news, I am trying out Tiktok again. Coupling it with Reels. And I just realized I need to loop in Youtube Shorts as well. Basically 'make a quick short video' and post it to all three. We'll see how it goes. I won't bother to track it in the list below until I see if I stick with it.
Big picture I have had the idea that I am going to do a little bit of a content clean up across Tiktok, and possibly Youtube. I might start a new Youtube Channel, that I haven't decided yet. But in short, I really want to lean into the author transparency. That seems to resonate with some folks, and I think could be a good way to go. So I'll be working on that in April.

Here's what I am thinking I will do:
I will write at least 9,000 words on Jubal County 7.
I will work on both new CCC zines.
I will finish the Thorn Hollow zine.
I will plan out my social media strategy with Schedchie.
I will decide on how I want to go about publishing all my new zines.
Here is what I planned to get done this month (copy/pasted from last months recap), with its status:
I will finish my edits on Capital of Nightmares, and submit them to Falstaff. (Yep!)
I will work on both new CCC zines. (Nope!)
I will finish Even Heroes Die and Thorn Hollow zines. (Half Done!)
I will plan out my social media strategy with Schedchie. (Nope!)
I will decide on how I want to go about publishing all my new zines. (Nope!)
I got a lot done! Here is a list:
Completed my edits for Falstaff
Started Jubal County 7
Handled my emails
Put out an episode of Books, Beards, Booze
Did a staggering number of Critiques
Took part in the Montevallo Backyard Book Festival
Sent out the monthly newsletter
Submitted panels to Stellar Fest
Beta read a novella
Wrote some Marsh Dispatches for Patreon
Prepped for my workshops
Taught workshops at the Alabama Writers Workshop and the Atlanta Writers Workshop.
Messed around with covers for Capital of Nightmares
Wrote blogs.
Alright, alright, alright! March is behind us. RIP.
The big news is two fold: I finished my edits for Falstaff Dread on Capital of Nightmares and because of that I was able to start on Jubal County number 7.
I spoke too soon on saying I had defeated my funk. It sort of came and went all month long. I'd have a few days of rocking and rolling, followed by days of...meh. I could have gotten done with my edits probably a week, week and a half earlier. But...oof. I just wasn't chugging along like I wanted to be.
I haven't been as good about getting things done in the evening is the big issue. I am, usually, decent about getting up early to get writing done (editing is another story, fuck I hate editing). But traditionally I have been able to knock out a fair bit in the evenings. And I just haven't.
The core issue, I think, is my day job. I really, really love my day job. More than I ever thought I would. But. it. is. so. mentally. draining. I think, hard, allllll day. Tackling really complex issues, one after another, after another. So when I get home I want to veg out, not think more.
Anywho, I did three events, one selling based and two workshop based, and all three were a lot of fun. I edited a book. I started another. What more do you want from me, geez lol.
