Monthly Recap: September 2024

TRANSPARENCYMONTHLY RECAP

10/1/20242 min read

Alrighty, August is behind us, so it's time for my monthly recap post! As always, I'm gonna be diving into the numbers behind my sales and socials! I am rearranging some things, adding some things, correcting some things, so it will look a little different this month!

Socials

Generally my socials kept chugging along! Nothing too wild going on here, just growth across all of it. Nothing major, which makes sense as I didn't try anything too wild. What I will highlight are the following:

1. I am now tracking my Patrons on Patreon here in socials. I am up to 15 now! I was actually able to go in and see what I had for each month going back to the very start of this Transparency project and if you are interested, here are the yearly numbers (I'm not typing up a monthly one lol):

  • 08/2020-12/2020: 4/3

  • 01/2021-12/2021: 3/3

  • 01/2022-12/2022: 3/4

  • 01/2023-12/2022: 4/9

  • 01/2024-09/2022: 10/15

So yeah, I've been having solid growth for about a year now, and I couldn't be happier! I will probably write up a blog about what I did with all this, basically my history with Patreon for those who are interested.

2. I messed up last month on the lifetime listens for podcast data. I listed the 'listeners' number which is different from the downloads number. So if you look hard you will see a big jump, but it's because the initial number was wrong. I will be using that number going forward.

Social media Growth:

Podcasts:

  • Podcast Downloads (Monthly): 128 (+43)

  • Podcast Downloads (Lifetime): 2,754

Sales

GOOD MONTH! Actually my best month ever (by about 300 bucks!). And of course, that is largely thanks to Dragon Con. To see the specifics on how that went you can read them HERE. Suffice to say it went really well, and was my best selling event to date. Alabama Comic Con also occurred in September but that was...less lucrative. Otherwise there really isn't too much to report here. Shirts were down, but affiliate traffic was up. I didn't get paid for any education (though I think I will have some next month). So yeah...it's weird to say not much to report when it comes to my best month ever...but yeah. Not much to say that I haven't said already in the two con recap posts. I am on track to beat last year, which I was really hoping would be the case. I'm at 9.2k for the year roughly, and last year I did 10.4k. So unless I have three really terrible months I will be in good shape. I'd love to hit 15k, but I know that is a bit too ambitious of a dream, just not enough runway. But hey, no reason not to try!

Eagle-eyed watchers will also notice Redbubble is officially removed from this list.
